How to apply

1. Fill in Form Ka and submit it to the designated officer in person, by post or by email.
2. State exactly what information is wanted, together with your name, address and contact number.
3. The actual cost of supplying the information (photocopying and so on) is borne by the applicant.

Statutory timelines

• Information must be supplied within 20 working days of the application.
• Up to 30 working days where more than one authority is involved.
• Within 24 hours where the information concerns a person life or death, arrest or release from custody.
• If information is refused or incomplete, an appeal may be made to the appeal authority within 30 days of that deadline passing.
• The appeal authority decides within 15 working days.
• If the appeal does not satisfy, a complaint may be filed with the Information Commission within the following 30 days.
